Work With Us
Making sure that no kid in America grows up hungry is a task that cannot be done alone. Please join us–there are a number of ways you can become a part of the Cooking Matters team.
Internships are available at Cooking Matters’s national office at Share Our Strength’s headquarters.
Cooking Matters interns primarily assist with the evaluation system and fulfilling administrative duties. Evaluation is vital to show the program’s impact and attract funding. Interns support the work of Cooking Matters staff in the national program evaluation, from processing of Cooking Matters class surveys to creating published reports. You may be required to fulfill additional duties, depending upon personal interest and ability with an opportunity for a specialized project, to be customized to the intern’s professional goals and past experience.
The person we’re looking for is flexible, detail oriented, independent, organized, able to learn new computer systems quickly, and interested in Share Our Strength’s efforts to end childhood hunger. Data management and/or statistical experience are preferred but not required. We’re looking for a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week but would give preference to candidates who commit to more hours per week. Desk space and a computer will be provided. A modest stipend is available depending on experience and hours worked.
If you are a student willing to work in the Washington D.C. area and are interested in joining the national team, let us know!

AmeriCorps*National Direct members work with local Cooking Matters staff to enhance and expand programs across the country. Members recruit and train volunteers, identify new class sites, establish and maintain partnerships, coordinate cooking-based nutrition classes, and develop sustainable financial support for the program. Members are visible in the communities where they work and work closely with program volunteers, a network of nonprofit agencies, class participants and graduates. Both full and part-time volunteer positions are available, and require a 9-12 month commitment.
