Why your Donation Matters
You Can Help Us Teach Families How to Eat Better With Less
Since 1993, thousands of chefs and nutritionists professionals have donated countless hours and invaluable expertise to teach low-income families how to make healthy, satisfying meals at home, with very limited resources.
Today the program is in high demand as more families find themselves stretching every dollar. Annual course evaluations and third-party research demonstrate that Cooking Matters works—both short- and long-term: families shop more wisely, make healthier food choices in the store, in the kitchen and at the dining table, and learn to cook and enjoy foods previously unfamiliar to them.
All this protects children against the devastating consequences of hunger, strengthens family bonds so critical to healthy development, and lays down healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime.
We Need Your Help to Grow
Our goal is to have Cooking Matters within reach of every family who wants it. We continue to partner with new organizations to grow our impact each year. Share Our Strength provides an average of $30,000 of support to each local program – in curriculum, training, and evaluation, and other services – so that local programs can focus on delivering services to families in need.
Your donation is put to work immediately to support Cooking Matters: It helps cover costs of current programming and the expense of establishing new programs in new communities—hopefully yours.
